Vellangi Stringos personal practice consist of a series of paintings that are layered imagery consisting of lucid figures that exemplify a translucent glow. Inspiration for the paintings are drawn from a personal experiences, and world events. The work is done in charcoal and various mixed media materials. The work explores mixed media through the combination of charcoal, drawings, tissue paper, and paint. Various forms of tissue paper allows for forms to appear transparent.  The layering of images create multiple dimensions of psychological information. Most of the work is figurative, through the application of paint various themes are revealed, the essence of time and place. The process involves three layers of mix media work starting with photos that have been taken and recomposed for the canvass based work.  The end result consists of paint, tissue paper, and charcoal. The images come together to tell a story and capture a moment in time.
